VAT on mileage

December 1st 2005 saw a new arrangement for recovery of VAT by businesses on road fuel purchased by their employees on their behalf.  The main change is that after 1 January 2006 the business must hold a VAT invoice or invoices showing sufficient VAT to cover the input tax claim.

Are you a prisoner of your business?

In a survey carried out by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, 94% of workers said they believed systems have helped them do a better job.

This is an area that stephen-hill A4G are absolutely passionate about because it is the one area where small businesses lose out to larger competitors. Systems make you more efficient, more profitable and reduce stress.

Malcolm undertakes quite a lot of work in this area for clients nowadays. In particular, the Improve and Grow session “How to make your business less dependent on you” has helped a large number of clients to introduced systems that improve their day-to-day working practices. Even better, a systemised business is far more valuable when sold than one that is dependent on its owners.

28th February-Tax Liability surcharge

Just a reminder to our clients whom it concerns, 28th February is the last day to pay 2004/05 personal tax that was due to the Revenue on 31st January 2006, before a 5% surcharge will automatically be incurred.
